Apple finally did it. For years we watched Samsung, Honor and others fold their phones in half while Apple stayed quiet. Now Apple has launched its first foldable. It isn’t called iPhone Fold or iPhone Flip. It’s called the iPhone Duo, and in this post we cover the iPhone Duo price in Nepal, its full specs and whether you should buy it or wait.

Closed, it’s a small, passport-shaped phone with a 5.4-inch screen. Open it like a book and you get a 7.6-inch display, the biggest screen Apple has ever put on an iPhone.
The question we keep getting in our comments and on WhatsApp is simple: when is it coming to Nepal, and how much will it cost? The short answer is that it isn’t officially here yet, and it won’t be cheap. Let’s sit down and go through it properly.
Key Highlights
- 7.6-inch foldable OLED inner display with a 5.4-inch cover screen, both 120Hz.
- Apple A20 Pro chip with 12GB RAM and up to 2TB storage.
- Dual-battery system with fast charging (about 50% in 20 minutes) and a 48MP main camera.

iPhone Duo Price in Nepal (Expected)
Apple announced the iPhone Duo on September 9, 2026, and it went on sale on October 23 in more than 70 countries. Nepal was not on that first list, so there is no official Nepali price yet. Based on how the iPhone 18 Pro Max is priced here (NPR 279,900 for 256GB), and since the Duo costs about one and a half times as much as the iPhone 18 Pro Max in other countries, this is what we expect:
| Variant | Expected Price in Nepal |
|---|---|
| 12GB / 256GB | NPR 430,000 – 480,000 |
| 12GB / 512GB | NPR 475,000 – 520,000 |
| 12GB / 1TB | NPR 560,000 – 600,000 |
| 12GB / 2TB | NPR 690,000 – 720,000 |
A few imported units may reach Nepal before the official launch, but expect a premium and no official warranty on those. We will update this post with the official price as soon as it is announced.

Design: A Passport You Can Open

The first thing you notice is the shape. Most foldables look like a normal phone when closed. The iPhone Duo doesn’t. Closed, it measures 84.1 x 117.8mm, which makes it shorter and wider than a regular phone, almost like a passport in your hand. It should slip into a jeans pocket more easily than a tall phone.
Open it and it is just 5.2mm thin. Closed, it is 11.3mm. At 254 grams it isn’t light, but Apple says the wider shape makes it more balanced to hold than a tall phone.
Apple has used a titanium frame and a 3D-printed titanium hinge cover, with Ceramic Shield 2 on the front. It is also rated IP68, so rain, a spilled glass of water or a dusty bus ride in Nepal shouldn’t scare you. Apple says the nano-texture finish on the inner screen helps hide the crease. We will judge that properly once we get one in our hands.
Two Screens, Two Ways to Use It
The 5.4-inch outer screen is the size of the old iPhone mini. It’s great for quick replies, calls, maps and scrolling with one hand.
The 7.6-inch inner screen is where the Duo makes sense. YouTube, reading, Facebook, editing photos or checking Daraz deals on a big screen just feels better. iOS 27 lets you run two apps side by side in Split View, so you can watch a video and chat at the same time.
Both screens run at up to 120Hz and reach 3,000 nits outdoors, so using it under the afternoon sun in Kathmandu or Dhangadhi shouldn’t be a problem.
Performance: The Same A20 Pro as the 18 Pro

Apple didn’t hold back on power. The iPhone Duo uses the same A20 Pro chip as the iPhone 18 Pro series, built on a 2nm process, with 12GB of RAM. PUBG, Free Fire, video editing and heavy multitasking will all run smoothly. This is a flagship in every sense.
It also has Apple’s own C2 modem and N1 wireless chip with Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6. It supports 5G, but 5G isn’t commercially available in Nepal yet, so you will be on 4G with NTC or Ncell for now.
Camera: Good, but Not a Pro Max

- Main camera: 48MP Fusion, f/1.6, with sensor-shift stabilisation.
- Ultra-wide: 48MP Fusion, 120 degree view, also handles macro shots.
- Zoom: 2x optical-quality, up to 10x digital. There is no dedicated long-zoom telephoto camera.
- Front: 12MP Center Stage camera on the outer screen, plus a hidden under-display camera on the inner screen for video calls.
For video, it records up to 4K at 120fps in Dolby Vision on the main camera. For vloggers and content creators, that is excellent. If you shoot a lot of zoomed photos at concerts, matches or events, though, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is the better camera phone.
Battery and Charging
Apple doesn’t share the battery capacity in mAh, but it uses two batteries, one in each half. Apple claims up to 24 hours of typical use, up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner screen and up to 44 hours on the outer screen. For a phone with a 7.6-inch screen, those are strong numbers.
Charging is fast too. With a 60W or higher USB-C adapter it reaches 50% in about 20 minutes. It also supports 25W MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging.
Important for Nepal: eSIM Only and Touch ID
Before you get excited, there are two things every Nepali buyer must know.
1. There is no physical SIM slot. The iPhone Duo works with eSIM only. The good news is that both Nepal Telecom and Ncell support eSIM, so you can convert your current number to eSIM. Do this before you buy, especially if you are getting an imported unit, so you aren’t stuck with a phone that can’t make calls.
2. There is no Face ID. Apple has gone back to Touch ID, built into the side button. It is quick and simple, but Face ID fans will notice the change.
Also think about warranty. Once Apple’s authorised sellers bring the Duo to Nepal, buy from them. A first-generation foldable with a brand-new hinge is not the phone you want to buy without proper warranty.
iPhone Duo vs Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8
| Feature | iPhone Duo | Galaxy Z Fold8 |
|---|---|---|
| Price in Nepal | NPR 430,000 – 480,000 (expected) | NPR 274,999 |
| Inner Screen | 7.6-inch | 7.6-inch |
| Outer Screen | 5.4-inch | 5.5-inch |
| Chipset | Apple A20 Pro | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy |
| RAM | 12GB | Up to 16GB |
| Water Resistance | IP68 | IP68 |
| Software | iOS 27 | Android 17, One UI 9 |
On paper, both phones are very close. The big difference is price. The Z Fold8 is already available in Nepal and costs far less. If you want the best foldable for the money, Samsung still wins. If you live inside the Apple world with your MacBook, iPad, AirPods and Apple Watch, the Duo is the only foldable that fits.
Pros and Cons
What we like
- Biggest iPhone screen ever, and it still fits in your pocket
- Same A20 Pro power as the iPhone 18 Pro
- Titanium build with IP68 water and dust protection
- Strong battery claims for a foldable
- 4K 120fps Dolby Vision video for creators
What we don’t like
- Very expensive, likely more than Rs 4 lakh in Nepal
- Not officially launched in Nepal yet
- eSIM only, no physical SIM slot
- No long-zoom telephoto camera
- First-generation hinge, so long-term durability is still unknown
Should You Buy the iPhone Duo in Nepal?
Our honest advice: wait. Wait for the official Nepal launch, the official price and proper warranty. Paying more than four lakh rupees for an imported first-generation foldable is a big risk.
If you love iPhone and have always wanted a foldable, the Duo is exciting and it is the only option Apple gives you. If you just want a great iPhone, the iPhone 18 Pro Max gives you a better camera for much less. And if you want a foldable without spending this much, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is already here at NPR 274,999.
